Greetings! I’m Chris and I have been, in one form or another, working in newsrooms for nearly 15 years. I’m currently the staff photojournalist at the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier in Iowa —— prior to that I was at the Globe Gazette in Mason City, Iowa. I have traversed the state and even the country, covering prep sports, presidential campaigns and everything in-between.
I’m a 2013 graduate from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a photojournalism degree. It was during my time at SIU that photography evolved from an interesting hobby to a lifelong passion.
Photojournalism has allowed me to travel coast-to-coast, but my work primarily documents life in the Midwest. My camera allows me to see the world in ways others might not have access to, capturing the visceral, raw emotions of the human experience. Doing my job effectively means I’m always learning new things about interesting people and sharing those stories through compelling visuals.
